| General: This is about normal moisture for this time of year. The mud season is drawing to a close.
Agriculture: Our normal moisture bodes well for crops. Spring is earlier by a couple of weeks, based on birds returning. Soil moisture is 50% at 3".
Fire: Low risk right now because it is still pretty cool (35 degrees F right now)
Plants/wildlife: We have frogs! That is such a treat, because it's been quite a while since we've heard them. We also saw a terrestrial garter snake (adult size). Magpies are nesting about 2 weeks early relative to prior years.
Water: Our snowpack is pretty much average this year, so we should be in pretty good shape downstream. The Portneuf River is still flooding.

Some of it came a bit too much all at once instead of over a long period of time. Top soils are now saturated and plenty of run off. Some day we will probe around to see how easily a 4 ft surveyors rod can be pushed into the ground. Meanwhile though. we are plenty wet and could let it soak in deep. |

| April started rather wet, but the past two weeks have brought just 0.43”. Not counting this morning’s catch, we’re at 3.93” total against a PRISM average of 4.39”, and there’s not a lot of month left to reach average. However, soils remain nicely moist and the spring greenup continues. Wildlife activity is normal; the only thing out of normal is pond level, down about two inches. That’s because the cranberry trust ran pumps in the bogs for several nights to protect the vines against frost. The pond is partially spring-fed, so it should recharge by midweek even if we don’t get much rain. |

Thursday was only 73 for a high with mostly cloudy skies and a light rain shower (0.07) around mid-day. Friday was very windy from the SSE (up to 36 peak gust) with a high of 85. A thundershower in the 1 to 3 AM range Saturday morning dropped 3 tenths. Saturday was again very windy from the SE (37 peak gust) with a high of 86 and complete drying out occurring. We have been getting plenty of planting done (cotton and beans now) and spraying and drain digging etc. this past week. Most trees are fully leafed-out now with some just getting started.
