April started rather wet, but the past two weeks have brought just 0.43”. Not counting this morning’s catch, we’re at 3.93” total against a PRISM average of 4.39”, and there’s not a lot of month left to reach average. However, soils remain nicely moist and the spring greenup continues. Wildlife activity is normal; the only thing out of normal is pond level, down about two inches. That’s because the cranberry trust ran pumps in the bogs for several nights to protect the vines against frost. The pond is partially spring-fed, so it should recharge by midweek even if we don’t get much rain.
