Description:
Leaf litter on the forest floor had been getting dry but rain overnight has restored moisture. Most trees are still bare with only willows and young maples sprouting tiny leaves. The spring ephemerals, now including dutchman's britches, are prolific in the woods. Daffodils and forsythia brighten yards. My plum tree is starting to blossom. Grass is green and growing and I used the lawn mower on high spots yesterday. After a cool week, weather is warming. I planted onion sets and chard in the garden yesterday. Raspberry canes are sprouting new leaves and rhubarb is almost ready to pick. Lots of people out using local bike trails.
