Notes: ~4:15pm, storm moved in surprisingly quickly with about one minute of light rain followed by heavy hail. I was in the backyard grabbing a few exposed Labidomera clivicollis off of their plants to bring inside and protect. I had three in my cupped hand when I heard loud, violent banging. I then realised it was hailing ping pong balls that were hitting the ground with such force that they bounced several feet back up. I rushed inside with my beetles, got them safely on their plants in butterfly cages, and then photographed the hail. The sound was tremendous. My doglet, even though frightened, kept following me outside every time I was chasing a hail ball to photograph with a ruler -- my silly precious baby.
