Notes
Significant storm with hail and very strong winds. Hail accumulated on different horizontal surfaces and piles are still present at 7 am. Measured hail size from piles is 3/8-inch diameter. Softer trees like aspens were flailing in the winds that accompanied the storm. Surprisingly, very little lightning and thunder. Rain hammering the roof was very loud. Strong winds destroyed garden plants, especially those with large diameter vines like cucumbers and zucchinis. Melon plants destroyed. Multiple flowers destroyed. Leaves scattered throughout the year. Winds broke branches. Items not secured were tossed about and blown feet from their original location. Amazingly, no obvious damage on vehicles parked outside and the house seems to have escaped storm impacts. Cool morning at 53 degrees F. Ground is supersaturated. Grass areas almost feel like a bog in terms of squishiness. Probably one of the craziest and most sudden storms experienced in decades. The storm was preceded by relatively high humidity all day.
