In the past week we’ve had a mix of rain, snow, sleet — sometimes all at one or alternating throughout the day , as well as throughout the week. Not pleasant. We’re tired of winter weather. Rain has washed away some of the snow as well as diminished the amount of snow on unpaved surfaces as well as on roof tops. It’s been either wet or icy underfoot — very difficult for the local dog walkers, in addition to anyone out walking. Birds are enjoying the bird feeder.

although the ground is not totally snow covered, most lawn surfaces still have considerable snow cover. I this neighborhood it’s about 7 inches deep with layers of snow and ice — now thawing. I took a core sample of the 7 inches and melted it was 1.76.
