We finished the old year with 77.32" or 32" above our 45" normal for Rowan County , NC. a new high for me (with near 77" a few years back )for melted and liquid precipitation. We have started the new year close to normal in precipitation with 1.23" and just 0.60" below our normal as of 1/14/2021. We have been cold with 8 of our first 14 days below normal and the others just a few degrees above normal. We have had only 0.50" of snow so far with a small amount of sleet and freezing rain .Water levels, well water, water quality and supply are all very good due to more than sufficient precipitation in December of 2020. Winter crops and livestock are fairing well for local farmers. Yards, trees and shrubbery are in good winter condition. Wildlife is thriving as seen by the number of birds at our feeders and the other critters out and about trying to steal their feed. They also are feeding on the abundant berries and foliage on bushes and trees.
