Description:
NWS COOP STATION GNTS1  LOCAL CONDITIONS BECOME MODERATELY DRY.  This station has had eight consecutive days of >90 F temperatures.  AIKEN 2E has had record breaking temperatures since 19MAY2019.  Despite early morning irrigation efforts, my lawns are turning more light brown than green.  Rainfall for May = 3.83 inches which is normal.  But, this station has only received 0.07 inches since 11MAY19.  Rainfall for 2019 = 14.83 inches which is -5.85 below normal.  Due to the recent dome of high pressure over the CSRA region, evapotranspiration diurnal rates have increased to at least 0.20 inches.  Evapotranspiration for May = 3.87 inches.  Evapotranspiration for 2019 growing season = 7.50 inches.  Soil Temperatures (4" and 8" depths) have risen from the upper 70's to the lower 80's.  USEPA PM2.5 Air Quality Index readings have been in the GOOD to MODERATE range with diurnal afternoon high readings in the UNHEALTHY FOR SENSITIVE GROUPS
