Station Name: Norwalk 1.2 E
Report Date: 5/25/2019
Submitted: 5/25/2019 7:50 AM
Scale Bar: Mildly Wet
Description:
On 5/19 we got two waves of rain and a little wind, but escaped any serious weather and received only .23 in. of rain. The total for the week is .43 in. but the ground is very wet. On 5/23 we got .19 in. after a fast-moving, windy storm. Tornadoes elsewhere and wind damage East of here. Our CSA is starting almost a month later than usual. On 5/20 I drove south of Norwalk for about 10 miles, through farmland. I saw small portions of fields tilled and a lot of equipment idle in the fields. Dame’s Rocket is in bloom along the roadsides. My sage is about to burst into bloom. Baltimore Orioles have been coming to orange halves and grape jelly for about 2 weeks. We are seeing Hummingbirds, but not at our feeder. House Finches abound, and the Red-Bellied Woodpecker is a frequent visitor to the peanut feeder. We see the occasional Cardinal, Blue Jay, and Mourning Dove. Chives are in bloom and quite pretty. Columbines are blooming, one dark red and one a gorgeous pink with ruffled blooms. Begonias look good. Oregano is growing well and marjoram is trying to hog the whole bed. Forget-me-nots are in bloom under a crabapple tree.
