Although the recent rains have raised the level of the creeks and spurred a little bit of growth in the lawn and pasture, growth rates are still well below normal in both. The oxen are back on the pasture but will likely need to pull them off again in a week or two unless growth really picks up. I am needing to mow the lawn but easily go more than a week at a time when normally I can't go for a full week without mowing. Corn and beans are growing and appear to be normal for the time since germination.
With less than a week to go in May we have less than half the normal monthly precip and are still more than 19 inches behind for the water year. We're OK but don't have the reserves to withstand any kind of drought conditions.
