I am upgrading to Near Normal from Mildly Dry this week. I have had a good May with about 5 days left to the month and am sitting at 114% of PRISM Normal precipitation. I am still concerned for the long-term as the Snowpack SWE in my area is still below normals. My 6-digit HUC South Platte River SWE is sitting at 77%. My more local 8-digit HUC Big Thompson River SWE is at 87%. For now the plants around me are coming along nicely with normal growth. Deer and elk have been frequent visitors. The elk are starting to drop their calves. Ticks seem to be worse this year. In one outing two of us picked 26 ticks off our clothing. Rivers are running higher this week as is expected. The park has not been able to open Trail Ridge Road on their normal schedule due to late snowstorms and high winds.
