Last week was a cool wet week with measurable rain every day and limited sunshine. Rain total of 1.25 inches was spread over multiple days and soaked into the ground causing minimal rise in the flow level of Basset Brook. Vegetation continues its lush growth. Cool weather garden crops are doing well. Spring peepers have been joined by green frogs vocalizing. Trails on Greylock remain wet in sections. The patch of Pink lady slippers is flowering on Greylock's southern slopes. Pink azalea is starting to flower. Dandelions have faded away and patches of buttercups and purple and white aster abound in the fields.
