Condition Monitoring Report
Station Number: IL-MCH-13
Station Name: Bull Valley 2.5 WNW
Report Date: 4/20/2025
Submitted: 4/20/2025 11:41 AM
Scale Bar: Moderately Dry
Description:
Just 0.20 inches of rain this week and 0.11 inches last week prompted a return to Moderately Dry on the bar. US Drought Monitor shows my station on the border of Abnormally Dry and Moderate Drought. Plants, grass, and shrubs are greening up though the ground is cracked. Predicted storms have passed us by. Serviceberries that have a history of blooming by April 25 are just starting to form buds. Puschkinia and Siberian Squill are joining the early blooming wildfowers, and oddly - the 5 Twinflower plants only had one bloom total this year. Photo of white bluebells emerging - thought due to genetic mutation that results in a white flower instead of the typical blue.
