Mildly dry conditions of the past month have modified to normal for this date. Within the last few days after several cool rainy days of about 1.2 inches of precipitation, greatly accelerated growth of many native plants has occurred. For example, skunk cabbage flowers and new leaves delayed for many weeks due to cold February and March are almost at normal growth stages. Swamp maples flowers also delayed have burst out last two days, particularly Saturday 4/129 with 75-degree weather. Also limited standing water, 8nusually little for this time of year has disappeared, reflecting accelrated evapotransporation in the swamp soils.
