Went hiking at Interstate Park on Sunday. Creeks that normally are full in the spring were either completely dry or very low flow. The St. Croix River seemed a little low, but it is controlled by the dam here. Trails that are often muddy, were hard packed and dry. No farming has started yet, but the earliest spring ephemeral flowers are blooming (bloodroot, hepatica). Lots of activity from birds and squirrels at our heated water station. No puddles for them to drink from.
