Station Name: Estes Park 1.7 SW
Report Date: 3/30/2025
Submitted: 3/30/2025 12:05 PM
Scale Bar: Mildly Dry
Description:
Sticking with Mildly Dry this week. I got a nice wet snowfall adding .44" of moisture last night. Precipitation is still low for YTD, WYTD, and MTD using PRISM normals for my location. Mountain snow pack SWE is at 99% of normal median for the 6-digit HUC South Platte River Basin and 105% for the 8-digit HUC Big Thompson River Basin. Meadow looks really dry but starting to see some flowers (Hooker's Towndsend Daisy) coming up - among the first flowers to appear. Current bushes are beginning to have bud swell but haven't seen swell on aspens yet. Birds continue to frequent the birdbath. River flows remain low but are beginning to come up. Wildlife other than birds have been wandering through the neighborhood browsing on shrubs, dry grasses, and dry forbs. Still plenty of snow in RMNP for most activities at higher elevations. Hidden Valley sledding area conditions as of 3/28 are very poor. No concerns of wildfire at this time.
