The dryness continues with only 0.02 in. of precipitation so far in February.  The soil is dry and dusty and there is no springtime shrub growth.  Many trees are in bloom and look healthy, however.  Snowpack depth on the Sandia mountains is almost zero.  The ski resort is closed.  Our water supply is adequate but the water supply outlook for this summer is poor.  A fire in the open space west of the Sandias yesterday spread quickly suggesting that fire danger is high.
