Jan. 13 - 21, 2025: dry, inversion weather then cold, dry air from Canada settling in this past week with morning low temps 14 - 15°F, daytime highs less than about 35°F. Ground has frozen again. Hardy annual plants like dracaena that had been surviving the relatively warm winter so far probably are now dead. Anna's hummingbirds are doing well as long as they have sugar water feeders available from dawn to dusk. Seed eating birds are very busy at the feeders. There is snow at upper elevations of the foothills (5,500' and higher) and in the mountains but lower elevations and the valley floor is snow free. No measureable precipitation since January 12.
