Southern Wisconsin is in a snow drought. The 8.8" we had just before Christmas disappeared when we had warmer temps and 0.79" of rain December 27th, which was the last moisture we had. The wildfire danger is high with very dry vegetation and leaves. Alfalfa and winter wheat need snow cover to protect it from zero or below temps. Wildlife also need snow to keep warm in. There is no snow for snowmobiling or cross country skiing. The lack of snow causes lost income for businesses selling snow removal equipment and related items. Also there is loss of income for snow removal.
