Last Saturday 0.50" of rain fell that somehow soaked into the frozen soil, as little runoff was seen and the surface was surprisingly soft just the other day. A couple of snow events followed with 1.6" Wednesday and 2.5" more Thursday evening and into Friday morning, as the NWS forecast absolutely nailed it. Hopefully they will continue to do so in the future. So it looks like winter out there now and we will possibly have a white Christmas. The U.S. Drought Monitor still has this area in a moderate drought so despite the recent precip, mildly dry soil conditions remain. Local waterways are unchanged from last week, being a bit on the low side. Everything outdoors looks pretty wintry as the trees are bare and the ground white. Wildlife is notable with some squirrels running around, various birds at the feeder and a couple of deer that were out in the yard last evening. Some local geese have been flying around, honking and I saw what looked like an eagle but it was just too far away to be certain. And there's still some mice finding out the hard way that indoors is not the place to be.
