Condition Monitoring Report
Station Number: IL-CK-336
Station Name: Evanston 0.8 ESE
Report Date: 7/15/2024
Submitted: 7/15/2024 8:49 PM
Scale Bar: Moderately Wet
Description:
This week my station received 3.64 inches of precipitation, up from 1.30 inches last week. Over the past 4 weeks, my station has received 7.48 inches of precipitation. Another big wave of thunderstorms is expected tonight (for the third night in a row). Evanston is currently under a Flood Watch and a Tornado Watch. Massive storms approach from the west. Conditions are currently Moderately Wet. Trees, plants and grass are thriving. The soil is spongy and water logged. There have been puddles on some paths in the park, and muddy/wet patches on a few sidewalks. I haven’t needed to do any watering lately. Two Evanston beaches had “yellow” warnings today for high bacteria levels (possibly due to runoff into the lake). Today is a MWRD “Overflow Action Day” — we’ve been asked to reduce our water use to prevent combined sewer overflows. Thunderstorms this week caused some tree and limb damage here and there.
