We're a 100% grassfed home dairy operation.  We top our paddocks on a staggered schedule to hopefully ensure the cows always have fresh, new growth to eat.  With this drought, we can't use the paddock that's now ready, because the Johnson Grass is stressed and prussic acid is toxic to livestock.  And, the next paddocks in sequence don't have enough regrowth for the cows to graze.  So, today, we're starting to feed hay.
