Notes: About 7.18 inches fell overnight, ~1.2'' came during the day on 7/4. Rain began around 10pm and continued all night, with over 7 inches falling overnight. Devastating flash flooding a mile from here around the Sandy Creek @ Round Mountain Road area- enormous amounts of debarked tree debris, overturned vehicles, twisted guard rails. The floodwaters cut a wide swath of tornado-like destruction through the creek valley. Search efforts have been ongoing. Without power until noon so report is submitted late. Actual storm total is higher than 8.38'' because rain has continued since 8 AM measurement.
