Webinar #84 - November 10, 2022
Flood Warning Systems Mark Moore National Hydrologic Warning Council
Understanding accurate rainfall is a vital aspect of Hydrologic Warning. Flood warning systems across the country use a variety of methods for measuring rainfall in real time and transmitting that data to system operators and the public at large. This webinar will discuss how rainfall measurements are used in flood warning systems, the pros and cons of different methods of measuring rainfall, and why CoCoRaHS measurements can play a key role in understanding flood impacts and fill in the data gaps. Last, we’ll discuss some real world examples comparing real-time reporting rain gauges to CoCoRaHS observations.
