What is the American Meteorological Society and why is it important to you
Keith Seitter, Executive Director
American Meteorological Society
Boston, MA
(Biography)
The mission of the American Meteorological Society (AMS) is “to
advance the atmospheric and related sciences, technologies,
applications, and services for the benefit of society.” What does that
really mean, though, and why is the AMS important to many more than just
the television meteorologists who display the AMS certification after
their name while they present their weather forecast? This webinar will
explore the many ways that AMS, as a scientific and professional
society, strengthens the weather, water, and climate community.
Further, it will look at how several specific initiatives of the AMS
have an impact far beyond the professionals working in weather and
climate fields.
