Sept. 12-18, 2021: no precipitation but some moisture left over from rains on Sept. 11. Overcast to sunny, normal or near normal temperatures during the day; cool overnights. Oaks and chestnuts continue to rain down seeds but this will be a low yield year for each-- flowers were frozen or baked in April and early June and the unusually hot 19 days of over 100°F temps. during the summer; tree leaves are turning color and falling; Anna's hummingbirds and seed eater birds are very active at feeders; lawn grass is beginning to grow faster in the cooler weather; Luck Peak, Arrowrock, and Anderson Ranch reservoirs in the upper Boise River basin are at 14%, 16% and 35% of capacities; some lower basin irrigation canals and ditches are being shut down about a month early because of low reservoir capacities. Wildfire danger is still high to extreme in most foothill and mountain areas.
