2012 Annual Meeting

This year’s 2012 WERA-1012 Meeting will look at CoCoRaHS progress made possible by the funding from the recent NOAA and NSF grants; provide a forum for participants to give input to mapping and other needs in the system; discuss enhancement of training materials--what works and what needs to be improved; look at how to keep all levels of participants engaged (from the observers to the coordinators); discuss the appropriate balance of observer privacy vs the need for accurate station location when using data; and brainstorm on ideas for future funding to help keep the network going as it grows both within the US and with the addition of Canada.

Chris Daly from the PRISM Climate Group will talk about some recent work that has been done relative to PRISM and how CoCoRaHS has and can continue to play a part. In addition, we will look at the current state of the NWS COOP program and plans for its 125th Anniversary.  The seven WERA-1012 subcommittees will report on their activities since we last met and we will have an opportunity for a general discussion on a variety of observational and network issues.  We will also discuss the future of the WERA-1012 group as we near the end of the 5-year cycle.
